What Is Pinto Beans?

Pinto Beans, named for their distinctive, speckled skin ("pinto" is Spanish for "speckled" or "painted") turn into a rosy-pink colour and creamy texture when cooked.

Why Should I Get Pinto Beans ?

Pinto beans are a family of kidney beans, navy beans, black turtle beans and several other varieties which are collectively known as "common beans" thought to have originated in Central America.

They are a fibre-rich protein source. Great for vegetable stews to add texture. Or to enrich a salad. To Cook: 1. Rinse beans 2. Soak for 4-6 hours (or overnight). 3. Place in a pot and cover with water above the beans. 4. Boil for 45-60 minutes and ensure that there's always water in the pot. 5. Add more if necessary.
