Kukicha

A distinctive Japanese green tea crafted from the twigs, stems, and stalks of the tea plant.

Kukicha, also known as “twig tea” or “winter tea”, is a traditional Japanese loose leaf green tea made from the stems and stalks left after Sencha production. The result is a beautifully balanced infusion with a clean, mild flavour that’s nutty, malty, and softly creamy on the finish.

Kukicha contains caffeine. Its nutty, softly creamy character makes it a useful change from leafier green teas; we do not have a measured caffeine amount for this product.

Steamed and processed with the same care as Japan’s finest Sencha, Kukicha brews into a pale golden cup that is refreshing, mellow, and deeply grounding—a true reflection of the season in which it is harvested.

Tasting Notes

• Flavour: Mildly nutty with soft malty tones and a creamy finish

Brewing Guide

• 1 tsp loose leaf per cup (250ml)
• Freshly boiled water cooled to 80°C
• Steep for 2–3 minutes
• Enjoy straight, or blend with juice for a traditional Japanese twist
